ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR AUDIO (USING A PASSTHROUGH)

ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR AUDIO (USING A PASSTHROUGH)

We all know that good audio is almost as important as good video, so make sure to stay backed up (an easy way is using a Zoom H1e as a passthrough.)

This tip isn't as ESSENTIAL as it was before on-board recording on wireless mics became available (and sometimes 32-bit float) but it still could prove useful. The idea is to capture a backup audio track, sometimes at a lower audio level, by passing the audio through a small, portable audio recorder (Zoom H1, F1, F2, etc.) This might seem redundant since a lot of people are using wireless mics with internal backup recording, but it's always good to have a backup! My old approach may no longer be ESSENTIAL (passing your audio through a small recorder) but if you follow this method, the Zoom H1essential is the first recorder I'd recommend (no excuse for NOT using that pun).
