MAKE ONLY ONE TRIP TO THE CAR (AND 1 BACK)

MAKE ONLY ONE TRIP TO THE CAR (AND 1 BACK)

This note is all about security and avoiding getting robbed when you place gear (that you've worked hard to get) in your vehicle...but this speeds up production too!

I had a friend who was a news photographer who pretty much lost all of the camera gear he had, because he took "two trips" to the car (he had to leave equipment in his vehicle while going back to the location to use the restroom). So, to do this (only take 1 trip to your car) what I do is work towards getting more compact gear (smaller cameras and lenses) to make this approach possible. This overlaps with one of my other tips, but the bottom line is it all needs to be portable enough to move it from your vehicle to the location, in one trip (and then one trip back). This allows you to pack up and go straight to your vehicle, and leave. (It also makes tearing down much faster, because you don't have as much gear to move.)
